After taking a break to fast and pray, Mike wanted to focus on "My house is a house of prayer." The thing is, that's not what God told him to do in 1983, so it wasn't about revival or changing the world, it was just about manifesting "church" in a slightly different way. Nothing about 24/7 prayer "changes the understanding and expression of God." Neither does megachurch or home church or organic church or seeker-friendly or purpose driven or any of the other flavors we've tried before. Prayer is great, but it doesn't do what God spoke over Kansas City.
There is a lot already said about problems with theology, spiritual abuse, preying on the youth, the feminization of men in the "Bridal Paradigm" they pushed, and more. I see it far more simply.
These were supposed to be things that EACH INDIVIDUAL was manifesting in their own lives. Eventually IHOP started giving a tiny percentage of budget to a shelter/pantry in downtown Kansas City. But again, the corporation giving isn't TEACHING for each individual to give extravagantly.
I am a 24/7 prayer room all by myself because my whole life is a prayer. I'm never not screaming inside for things to change. I'm never not trying to bless someone. Whether I'm picking up food to give away or building this webpage or doing a video or whatever - I have no other job, I have no hobbies, I have nothing except serving Jesus and His people. We've been living entirely on faith for over 20 years. I have LOTS of stories of standing in faith when everybody else thought it was nuts. We are raising up "martyrs" - witnesses that WILL NOT budge, will not back down, are steadfast, no matter what. And we take homeless into our own homes, give them our last bit of food, empty our wallets to the last drop - and know how to lay down everything spiritually as needed (Exodus 32:32). There are conferences you can go to where some prophet up front will lay hands on you and you'll get a squirt of something in your cup. But will they give you everything, to the last drop, even if they never get it back - if the Lord tells them? That's extravagant. (Isaiah 58) That's what restores and rebuilds. Do you know how to "draw out thy soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul"? (Isaiah 58:10) We do. And we can teach you.
So in 2023 and 2024 all kinds of allegations came out about Mike Bickle having "abused" (or something) various women over the course of many years. Some going back to the 70's and 80's. There are still investigations, and probably lawsuits, underway.
